How to buy an apartment in Prague?

In this workshop you will learn how to search for good apartments in an efficient and structured way. You will be more confident in assessing the quality of apartments, spotting possible risks on a technical and ownership level, planning the buying process, estimating possible improvements and the overall maintenance of your future property.

The first part of the workshop is theoretical. It will take you through technical topics such as the type of apartment buildings in Prague, typical features per type of building incl. their impact on safety, energy usage,…), building regulations, which types of apartment ownership exist and what is their impact, locations, process topics (search process, expected time lines,…), which checks to do upfront (regarding the apartment, ownership, neighbourhood, costs,…), how to spot red flags, which upfront and operational costs to count with and how to secure them, which professionals can be used for which topic, how to deal with maintenance, how to reduce possible issues, how to assess short and long term options.

In the second, shorter, part of the workshop you will practice what you have learned. You will create a step-by-step plan for your apartment search. It doesn’t matter if you’re searching now or making a long term plan to find your perfect apartment. In case you don’t want to buy yet, but want to prepare yourself for a future search, you can focus on this, or on other topics such as diving deeper in which options there are (rent, buy, invest,…). You prepare yourself for the search and will benefit of your new acquired knowledge.

During the workshop you will receive material which you can use during the practical part and take home. Upon completion of the workshop, you will have your plan of action in place.
